Wolf Lubricants launches all-new trio of GM dexos1™ Gen3 engine oils
Wolf has launched a trio of precisely formulated new lubricants that adhere to the latest specifications from General Motors (GM) - GM dexos1TM Gen3. These new upgrades improve performance in a number of important areas and are reaching the market at a crucial time as GM has recently put the mandatory transition in place.
- Wolf launches a trio of engine oils for latest GM dexos1 TM Gen3 specification
- Products are quick to market in line with GM’s mandated switch as of September
- New oils improve fuel efficiency and engine protection while reducing emissions
- Wolf’s dexos1 TM Gen2 oils to be phased out over the coming months
As OEMs look to improve the efficiency and performance of their vehicles, GM has introduced a new engine oil specification dexos1TM Gen3 that meets the newest hardware performance requirements for GM vehicles. Compared to dexos1TM Gen2, this new specification has significant advantages, including reduced turbocharger deposits, improved piston cleanliness, and pre-ignition protection with a focus on fuel economy benefits and emission reductions.
Wolf’s R&D engineers brought a new line of engine oils to market that meet these rigorous new requirements. This enhanced line includes two officially approved products, WOLF ECOTECH 0W20 SP/RC D1-3 and WOLF ECOTECH 5W30 SP/RC D1-3. It also includes one product that meets the specification, WOLF ECOTECH 5W20 SP/RC D1-3, but GM is not currently officially supporting the 5W20 viscosity grade.
All three products are backward compatible with former Dexos1 specifications and a perfect fit for the latest hybrid vehicles, in compliance with ILSAC GF-6 A.
The new engine oils build upon Gen2 specifications for dependable and complete lubrication solutions. These low viscosity oils provide improved fuel efficiency whilst adhering to API SP/RC meaning that they provide excellent protection against low-speed pre-ignition for longer engine lifespan, improved fuel economy and less harmful emissions.
Joseph Charlot, Head of Product Marketing at Wolf Lubricants: “Lubricant innovation is all about staying ahead of the curve and meeting emerging market requirements with high-end formulated solutions.
Following a rigorous development period, we are now delighted to launch three new technology-enhanced engine oils that meet the requirements of GM’s latest dexos1 Gen3 specification. It means that distributors and workshops will have access to high-quality products that are perfectly compatible with modern GM gasoline and hybrid vehicles.”
